This device cannot start. (Code 10)

In my device manager i have an error with my AMD athlon 64 processor 3500+. It says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I could have appeared when i upgraded to windows vista. My computer seems to run just fine. I can still play games etc.. I have tried to update the driver, but i am prompted that i am up to date..

Anyone knows what it means?

 

Do you still show the AMD Processor driver as being installed in Programs and Features?

 

Yes the athlon 64 processor driver is listed...

 

Its incompatible with Vista. Uninstall it, and if need be remove the Processor from Device Manager and redetect it.

 

When trying to uninstall i get a message saying that vista does not support the processor and the process stops without uninstalling anything.

 

Ok, go to Device manager.

Right click on the device, go to properties. Click drivers tab, then go to driver details.

What are the names of all the files listed?

 

The only file there is amdk8.sys.

 

Start, run, regedit.

Di you have any lower or upper filter entries here?

What is the version of that driver?

 

I can't see any filter entries, but then i don't know what filter entry is. I can't see the words filter, entry, lower or upper in that adress..

The driver version is 1.2.2.0

 

Definately the wrong version. This is mine.

 

Here is the correct one.

It goes in C:\windows\system32\drivers.
