    I try Linux.

Of all the distros I have ever tried, not once has one left me where I couldn't fix my system.

Well I tried Fedora Core 2 tonight, and it screwed my partition table.

This is a rant, I've tried everything in the book to fix it, save hack the partition table myself.

No need to leave any suggestions on how to fix it ;)

    I HATE LINUX!

Ya know, if your a newbie to Linux, its ok to mess up, its part of learning.

I've had to reinstall Linux certainly more than once on the same machine for dumb mistakes I know about now. Have some patience, if you didn't know Windows you'd be doing the same thing. My opinion anyway.

    I didn't mess it up.

    Fedora Core 2 did.

I'm perfectly ok with ME messing it up.

Well....ahem...there is no magical little OS gnome that says I am going to mess up Fedora Core 2 today. :) :) :)

    Do tell.

I installed it, like any other distro.

By the way I have installed Mandrake, Suse, Debian, and FreeBSD 4.x and 5.x without issue in the past. They all setup botoloaders and I could get into Windows as well.

I installed it, and viola! My video doesn't work. I foresaw this, x800 cards are not detected manually, and as such, X doesn't work.

So I rebooted, and went to go to Windows to download my drivers for my motherboard and video card.

Hit enter on the option at the bootloader.

    --Nothing. Just hangs.

Checking through various partition tools and programs, my partition table throws errors.

    Specifically, error 110 from PM.

I can see my data, I cannot boot to it!

I removed grub, I did fixmbr, fixboot, I did fdisk /mbr, then fixmbr, I did chkdsk /r, I let PM try to repair it, and I tried a partition recovery software (which says it is unallocated space, btw). Still could not boot. Error Loading Operating System, which comes from the MBR.

I've never had this problem in the past with any other distro. They all setup the bootloader fine in the MBR.

So, no, it was not me and you aren't doing a very good job of convincing me otherwise.

I was just joking, I understand your frustration.

To be honest, I have no idea, I have not had this issue or anything similar to it before, all my Linux installs have gone well, its after it is up and running that I or something screws it up.

Are you sure that perhaps there was a problem with the drive itself beforehand? I guess there may be no real way to know for sure. Try posting your issue on some other Linux based forums, I normally go to Linuxquestions.org when I need help.

    Good Luck.

    :p

Anyway, I tried mandrake the night before and didn't like it. I removed it without issue. So no, its not the drive.
