Thoughts on the Windows KB951748 issue?

Is it more secure to have the KB951748 installed and ZA (free version) set to Medium? Or is it more secure to have ZA set to Stealth, and don't install the KB951748?



(For the record, I tried downloading the ZA patch, but there was some kind of error, and I haven't tried again.)

 

Go to ZoneAlarm's homepage and install one of all the updated versions that was released a couple of days ago. The issue is solved. The conflict is a thing of the past. Replace your old firewall with a new one.

 

Install the update, uninstall ZA and go with Comodo. Comodo does not have any problems with the update.

I did go to ZA's homepage and tried to install the update for the free basic firewall, but I keep getting this error:

C:\......Temporary Internet Files\Content IE5\1YUH3CMK\zlsSetup_70_483_000_en[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application

What does this mean??

 

What program gave you that error message? And: what antimalware programs are you running besides ZoneAlarm?

I think it is a ZoneAlarm file. Perhaps you need to uninstall your old ZoneAlarm first? And have all other security software shut completely down during download and reinstall.

I also think you should run CCleaner - ordinary cleaning as well as registry cleaning - and this relatively new Microsoft service Windows Live OneCare safety scanner before trying again.
