Can my husband use a thumb drive to steal the information on my laptop. He can turn the laptop on but I have password protected windows and my desk top. He does not have a user account and the guest acct. is not activated. He was asking me about all the ports and openings. He knows about thumb drives because a former salesman of his used a thumb drive to steal info .

The only way to keep your data safe is to physically secure the laptop.
You can find the password & login and copy the data, or anything else you want.
Or even boot a Live CD and copy whatever you want never booting "Windows"....

PASSWORDS MEAN NOTHING. Its like stamping guaranteed on the box!

Keeping secrets from the ol man, eh?
Maybe you need a lawyer instead of tech support..lol.

    10-4 on the lawyer. :cry

What do you mean by physically secure it? If I do that it is really going to look suspicious!
