Just a few days ago, my thumbdrive was ok... I put my thumbdrive on my labtop and opened up a Adobe PDF file... Then my laptop went on standby because the batt went low... So i charged my laptop...And next thing i know when i turned on my laptop i can't open my thumbdrive...

It says "Please insert a disk into a disk F:"

I checked its properties;the device seems to be working properly... I can't format it neither... Is there a way that my thumbdrive can be saved??

    Thanks.

Try it in another computer, if it loads up run a quick scan disk on it. You may lose information so use at your own risk. If your not worried about losing yoru information then just go ahead and format it.

When you plug it into your computer, go to disk management and see if it shows up there. You can get to disk manager by right clicking on my computer and clicking manage. LMK if it reads it in the window.

    Hi FiddyGeeky,

I had a problem once with a CompactFlash card not allowing me to format it, but it was solved by formatting it as FAT, or FAT16, or FAT32 in the Windows formatting dialog box.

Hrm, we need to find a way to low level format it. What information does it give you in disk management. When you right click on the area where the drive is supposed to be is format an clickable option? If there is someway you can open up the properties of the flash drive, can you run error checking on it?

Go to Run and type "cmd" in the box hit enter. Figure out the correct drive name for the flash drive. type format f: then hit enter, it may prompt you to agree to it. type y

    see if that works
