   I use an old install of Thunderbird for email that has been updated whenever possible.
   i cannot get Thunderbird to List the emails as them arrive.
   
   Any Ideas?

   What Windows version and service pack you using?
   
   I tend personally to use Outlook as its a work thing but I love Thunderbird and try checking Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings > Check Messages every XXX and change XXX to 1 minute
