Thunderbird download trojan?

Just restored my laptop and am putting all my programs back on it. Using free AVG AV and PC Tools firewall. I just tried to download from Mozilla the latest Thunderbird *.exe program file. AVG keeps popping up a warning that says

"Threat detected. Trojan horse downloader.banload.apio detected on open".

When I click on more info[sends me to the AVG virus database site] it can not
locate any bug by that name. However, even telling it to "heal" or "remove as power user" doesn't help as it only send sthe whole TB program to the virus vault. Can you please tell me how to work around this problem. I'd like to get at my email again!

1. I copied the TB2......23 version *.exe file from my desktop to a travel drive to install on the laptop. When I got the trojan warning, I stopped and went to the mozilla site and downloaded it directly to the laptop. Got the same trojan warning.

Based upon advice[ yours and similar others] I disabled AVG[could only uninstall as the free version does not allow you to disable it] and installed the exe file from mozilla.
tried to install it and it hung somewhere in the middle of the installation. I manually shut down my computer after it froze up, tried to restart in safe mode, and it hung up and stopped starting once the list of files showed on the screen. Again had to turn it off. Now I am using my restore disk again to start over from scratch in the hopes that my laptop will run again. I have an older version of TB that I can install [2....16] before I install the AVG. or should I just use the one from your website?

What bothers me is the file I originally tried to use is the one I downloaded and put on my desktop is the same one I am running on my desktop. [desktop has no problems with it but to be safe I am running AV & SW scans on it.

 

Yes I have scanned the travel drive and the only infected files are the FF & TB *.exe files.
I have also tried to download from Mozilla while AVG is on and working and AVG STOPS me from downloading, saying they are both infected. I can download if the resident shield of AVG is turned off. I tried 2 online virus scan sites and scanned the new downloaded files on my desktop ( with AVG Resident Shield off and directly from Mozilla to computer) and got the same infection notices. Attached are the results of those scans.

Please advise so I can continue to set up my restored laptop. So far all I am doing is installing Toshiba and windows updates.

 

I tried to download it today and get the same virus message from AVG.

That's the reason I came here to get the download.:-D

 

Do a google search and find the link to a download from a safe site.
