Thunderbird Problems

Hi,

I was using Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 to access my email accounts. I recently reinstalled Windows and afterwards, Thunderbird cannot access the Internet. I look in my firewall logs and it shows no entry in which Thunderbird has tried to access the Internet, let alone access it. I think I have tracked the problem down to the "Set Program Access and Defaults" feature of XP. I try to enable access to Thunderbird but after I exit the dialog, the little checkbox next to Thunderbird remains empty no matter how many times I try and enable access to it. I am able to allow access to Outlook, but I am not able to make Outlook or Thunderbird the default application. I used IE to make Thunderbird my default mail application, but it doen't show up under the "Set Program Access and Defaults" box. I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird, but that did not solve the problem. Please help me.

 

See if this helps:
1. Uninstall Thunderbird
2. Delete Thunderbird's program folder (example~ C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird)
3. Reboot your machine.
4. Reinstall Thunderbird to a DIFFERENT location (folder) (C:\Test\Mozilla Thunderbird..)

and see if that works?

 

Sorry, that doen't work... I have already tried disabling my firewall and trying to access it but it doesn't work. I already checked my account information a bazillion times.
