    Greetings Software :)

I have four Thunderbird profiles and would like to have one that combines the emails from all the others. I have had some success in moving some of the folders from one profile to another under Local Folders and have even moved some of the files directly within their .msf files, but I don't know how I did this and have never understood what allows or prevents the e-mails from being moved from one profile to another.

    Hi MarkTrents,

I went to the link and got the addon installed. However it did not all go as I envisioned it. I click on import, but was not sure then what to import. I think I then tried importing the whole profile. In any case, nothing happened at all that I could see.

So I started again with attempts to move things from one profile to another manually and found that I had some success, although it was unexpected.

I renamed the file "sent" (without the msf extension) which is located directly under Mail\Local Folders to "sent1" and copied it to the same location (directly under Local Folders) of the active profile. When I opened Thunderbird, I found a folder named "sent1". I was able to open the folder and pull the emails back into the active sent file. This allowed me to get the consecutive emails back together with those that preceeded them. If this is something which can be duplicated, it has the advantage of my being able to check the dates of the emails and then getting those back together that were missing. I see the real disadvantage of doing it this way in that it leads to duplicates, which I think is what the profiles attempt to avoid.

One thing I've never understood with import and export features is if they write over anything. In the website it says that to avoid duplicating folders, the folders are given a different name. In my case, though, I could not see that anything happened at all. I expect I need to read the directions more thoroughly. :)
