    Is Thunderbird really more secure than Outlook. Is this really the best e-mail client out there?

    Yes, it is more secure - for now.

    Make sure the preview pane is off, and make sure you dont open any suspect emails, let alone open the attachments!! And of course make sure you have a good AV and firewall :)
