Thunderbird won't open.

I have Windows XP Home Edition SP1.
Thunderbird had been working quite well for me. I was using it to handle my Comcast email.
Prior to Thunderbird, I was using Netscape to handle the Comcast email.
Thunderbird won't open if Netscape is or isn't set as the default email application. There was also never a problem having both Netscape and Thunderbird installed.
I currently have Thunderbird 1.0.2 installed. But the previous version also wouldn't open.
