Hey all, Might be the wrong place to post, but I'll give it a shot. I seem to recall at one point there was freeware that when you executed it, it "fed" google dozens - even hundreds of "false URLs" constantly(you could vary the number and the time); thus making your google history virtually useless to anyone who wanted to create metrics from your actual usage. Am I just dreaming, or does anyone remember the product? TIA...Nick

Or just use the google history delete option? I can't recall exactly how to do it but majorattitude posted it a bit back.

    Hi, Nick,

I can't answer your question, but another way around what I think you're trying to do is to come at google from a different direction, like by using DuckDuckGo. You enter your search into DDG and it can pass it on to google under certain circumstances (I haven't figured it all out yet, but I think you enter "google [search string]" and you get a result from DDG doing a google search---but not always) and it can't be traced back to you because DDG doesn't pass on where the request came from (so they say). There's another one, too, like DDG, but its name escapes me at present. And DDG isn't nearly as good as google, either, so you might want to try it out a few times before using it as your default search.

BTW, it's not just google, either, that is a problem. Almost any commercial site you go to is going to keep tabs on what you do there and what you search for; Amazon, for instance. I'm almost certain that they all sell info to each other.

    Good luck.

https://www.torproject.org/ Check out tor, its pretty much your easiest option, but keep in mind, if they really want to get you, they will no matter what :)

Search engine I'm now using https://startpage.com/
doesn't maintain history nor your IP and it allows you to click to view any page by lxquickproxy.

    @ Colmanguy
Using the Tor project gives a false IP address but if you use DuckDuckgo in Tor it is liable to bring up things you really do not want to know about because it works on the dark internet and it is very slooooow.

Thanks so much all! I don't think I expressed myself very well. but I will start using startpage. What I really enjoyed about the software I described was that you could configure it to start spewing out dozens/hundreds/thousands of random searches(not URL's, as I mistakenly stated earlier) that were never actually performed! While the privacy aspect was a minor factor, the main idea was to mess up Google's stupid metrics. Again, thanks!

Tor was more for over all privacy tip, personal i think missing with googles metrics seems really bad and malicious.

I'm going to give this a try. I've never even heard of it. I must live a sheltered life.
