Is a TI 4200 worth getting or a waste of $$$ and get something newer?

depends what your doing and how much you can get one for,but they still run most of the latest games, they only run dx8 all newer cards run dx9,lower quality better fps the former, higher quality less fps the latter, unless you spend more. :)

4200 is ok for older non dx9 games but for newer games you have to turn of AA and anisothropic filtering. If you've got low budget it's a good card, better than FX5200 and way cheaper. My overclocked 4800SE runs as fast as Radeon 9600pro and cost virtually nothing. (I know that mid range Radeons and GeForces aren't expensive but then again I'm a student who doesn't even have the extra $120.)

How much are you planning to pay for a 4200? Should be _really_ cheap.
