Tilt!

since covid i find myself living in bed with my laptop. tried positioning it in front of me, above me, even near my stomach via overhanging tabletop (think hospital bed). i find the only thing comfortable long-term is PC on the bed itself, with me lying on my side. has to be left side, since i'm right-handed. (tried on my right once and typing was 20x harder!)

ideally PC would be on its side as well, so that it's still right-side-up to my eyes. that is kind of hard to achieve, so i've compromised by propping it up about 45% only (books under right edge), and my head 45% the other way (pillows).

dunno how great that is for the HDD, but i feel like i have no choice. anyway, i now have bigger problems: got new PC where the power input and USB ports are all on the LEFT!! egads. really hard to prop the PC up when all this fragile stuff is on the DOWNHILL EDGE!!

so let me ask -- 1) do others tilt their PCs like this? (i do it with a TV as well, altho that is fully on its side)

    2) any obvious kludge for doing it with all that junk in the way? i feel like i need to build a whole FRAME of sorts now, whereas before jury-rigged stacks of books worked just fine.

    3) just HOW bad is it for HDD (or anything else) to run in non-flat position?

    tx!
