I currently have a 5 year old Ultra 1025VA (similar but not exact model) running a modem/router/LCD and a quad with 2 9800GTs. The battery looks good, I check every 6 months, and only have maybe 8 min. before the thing gets to below the preset charge % and really starts screaming that it's power is nearly gone.

I was thinking of just getting a new battery but looking at the age of the thing I was thinking of getting a completely new box. This has been my one and only UPS experience and the Ultra has been excellent for the price/performance but is getting old! Their blurb states 50 minutes up time but I guess they're talking about regular folks.rolleyes

Does anyone have any other preferences as to brand? I'm thinking of getting a 2000VA UPS so's I can surf with my lappy for a few hours. It's very rare that power goes out longer than that.

Thanks to all who read and respond!

No preference, just good luck with both that I have at home.
Belkin F6C120-UNV replaced battery at about 5 year mark. Into 4th year on second battery.
APC Back-UPS XS 1200 4 years old and haven't replaced battery yet.
    Both have AVR.
    Good luck shopping.;)

I use APC at work. I have 4 servers plugged into it and it works great for minor power outages. Except when the maintenance guy shuts the power off for 4 hours on a sunday.....

I have had some real good luck with refurbished APC ones.

Wow man, that's some track record there! :eek

Hmm, I think I'll just replace the battery when needed, unless it's unavailable which means a new look at things.

Having a 'net connection is good but not paramount in the grand scheme of things. Thanks lbmest.:)
