1) Is there such a thing as a .tmp file that you should not delete.

I did a search and tried to delete the ones that were found, but some were said to be read only, and others were said to be system files. In both cases I was asked if I still wanted to delete them. I declined (cluck cluck).

2) Can I delete all the internet logs that zone alarm leaves behind in C://windows/InternetLogs?

My OS is XP home

I use System mechanic to get rid of junk files,, and I have it set to not skip over system temp files, read only temp files, etc. I also have it set to dump unused files in the windows temp directories. Haven't had a problem yet.

The Zone Alarm logs can be deleted with no problems even ZA itself has a menu section which views and can delete a log file.... located @ Alerts & Logs > Advanced > Log Control ... from there you can browse/view and delete logs plus you can change the period that ZA archives thr log files.

plus if you don't need to view the log files... don't think I ever have viewed one of those logs until today you can just turn them off?

as for tmp files their are many variables to what ones are safe to delete as windows and some other apps maybe still using these.... so after a reboot generally those files in the TEMP folder are ok to delete if they won't delete then they are in use... like some ZA files.

you can also use Disk Cleanup Wizard in Accessories > Tools
