To Cut Or Not To Cut?

I have a question and a concern. I am modding my case and trying to reduce clutter more than anything and I have run across a problem with my rounded IDE cables being to long. First of all I run a system with three drives, two of which are on an onboard raid system and in the old case I had to put them in the top of the case which forced me to by the cables that would attach to two drives. So now that I have the new case they are to long, way to long and I cannot find any that are short enough BUT I was told I could actually CUT the upper half off and use the lower half. This would work out perfect IF it is TRUE! The last thing I need is false information and to screw up my system!...if you know what I mean, so I was wondering if you guys out there have actually heard of doing this? Thanx a million!

 

It works for me but be shore none of the wires are shorting aginst any other wires at the cut end and be shore its a nice clean cut .......

 

would it be a good idea to run a piece of electical tape across the cut?

 

if its cut vary close to the IDE connecter and thare are no wires showing you whouldent need to....
