To download or not

    I assume that if I download a program/game etc. that has a cost, that M.G. receives a commision of some type and I am supporting M.G. (it cost money to run this site). also, can I transfer :confusedthe download to cd to put on my other computer, and does the download come with its special ident number?

    Yes, I'm sure that MG's gets a few cents per download, even if it's free.;) You can use the app anywhere that you choose as long as the license says that you can.

    I use Avira on both my machines with the same key for example.

    Hi

    The licensing is specific to each software company. If it's shareware, you'd have to check what is specified. That legally doesn't change no matter where you download it from. Some keys are for 1 computer and some are for more than one, you'd have to look.

    Are you looking at something specific? Maybe if you let us know we can help you out with the licensing for it.

    Thank you both. That is as I expected but I thought I would ask. I am look to upgrade my anti virus etc and was looking at AVG internet or Norton Internet. (I have used AVG free for several years.) Any suggestions?

    As far as your AV, I have never used AVG. If it's working for you, I would suggest continuing using it. There are people here who use it and like it. I do think there have been some recent issues with it, but they may have addressed that.

    I've used Avira for a long time and really like it.

    Honestly, I don't think need to pay for something to get a very good AV. Norton has traditionally bogged down people's systems, so you really won't find many fans of it here.
