    Hi all,

Is there any software/script out there to set permissions on (Windows Server 2003) network folders?

I would like to have a simple way of assigning permissions to our users, user groups instead of using the older/existing way.

Currently I select the folders and add security privilages to users etc.

    Looking for some other alternatives.

    Thanks in advance.

You can use the 'cacls' command to set permissions via command line. With this tool, you can write a script or batch file to set permissions programatically.

xcacls is an improved version of cacls. Should be located within your support tools on your windows 2003 cd. Or downloaded via the resource kit for 2k3.
