"To display them delete some shortcuts or reduce the size of the icons"

this is the message that comes up every time I click on the Start button. I understand what it means but I am running my desktop at 1600x1200 and have shite lot of space to have twice as many shortcuts displayed easily.

So I'd rather allow further expansion of the start menu or prevent this message to appear every time. But that message a HAS GOTTO GO either way!!!

    Any ideas??

I'm not sure if this will help, but this is where you select how many
items will display in the start menu.

Right click start> left click properties > start menu tab > customize >
General tab > now look where it says "number of programs on start menu"
just select a larger number than you have now. I have mine set at
16 and everything fits at 800x600

Oh yeah, while you're on the general tab, select
"small icons" button. That is probably what it meant by the size
    of the icon.

yeah have tried that thanks, but still no change. If it only had a tick "Not to display next time"
