I tried to install a new scanner and have had all kinds of problems. Have unloaded software and unplugged scanner (usb) but I still keep getting this "Too many parameters" on startup, what does it mean? What can I do?

    Which OS?

You could perform a step-by-step boot on startup to see which start-up process is the culprit.

OK, follow through with the step by step boot to isolate the batch file that is causing the problem. I would guess that it is autoexec.bat (but it could be one of the others). The error messge is typical if one of the batch file commands has too many parameters on the line passed to the command. You could check the SET PATH line to see if there are spaces in the directories listed, one possible cause.

Another way to isolate the culprit start-up file is to run msconfig and perform Selective Startup.
