Instead of spending time and energy on finding out how to do that, then you should take your computer down to the computer shop (or to a friend who knows something about computers) and install another 128 or 256 mbyte of memory.

OK, I can do that, but still figured should be limiting un needed processes running

ok very simple go to the start bar, click run, type in msconfig, and when it starts goto the startup tab and uncheck what you don't want running when your system starts. The addition of more RAM may fix it for a little while, but I would suggest doing both. Msconfig and the RAM. Plus you might want to get Spybot and Ad-aware if you don't already have it.

More memory is always of help but get control over the processes is a worthwhile exercise.

Starter from CodeStuff http://codestuff.netfirms.com/news.shtml is a good program to gain control over your processes. You can see what is running, uncheck various processes, add or delete as well. Bazza

Msconfig does the same thing and you don't need to download it.

Agreed, but msconfig isn't as friendly, or as useful. Bazza
