Too Many Running Processes in XP Pro?

I'm kinda new to XP Pro and I happened to check the Task Manager and found what seems like an awful lot to be running. Will someone please take a look at my screenshot and tell me if everything running on there is necessary. What can I shut down in my start up? Thanks a lot.

 

That's actually pretty normal muskybob. I'm currently running 28 with one window open here. If you haven't yet, hit Black Viper's Services guide HERE to see if there's anything running that shouldn't be, but XP runs a lot of stuff at the best of times..

Hey Scented One GT is, as usual, spot on the money. I have 28 proccesses running in XPHome --mostly the same as you're showing. Just finished intalling XP on my sister-in-laws new pooter and she has 26 running.
I'd say you're right on normal
