    Hello.

I am attempting to set up a laptop and have loads of favorites set up in IE on my desktop. I am looking for an application that allows you to move favorites to other machines. Perhaps I missed one on Major Geeks but I didn't see anything. Also after a few searches the only thing I could find was on the PCMag site. (not gonna register cause I hear its difficult to un-subscribe for the magazine)

    Anyone have any ideas?

Just export your Favorites from the old computer and then import them into IE on the new computer. To export, open IE on the old computer and go to File, Import and Export, select Export, and then select Favorites. Make note of the file name and folder. Then, copy that file to the other computer and import it into IE.

Ah thanks. At some point I had hit the F10 key in IE 7 and the menu drop downs are hidden off the browser.

Favorites are actually located within c:\documents and settings\%username%\Favorites

A simple copy and past to the new location is quite nice. :)

If your machine has a floppy drive, a floppy disk usually holds the entire folder, unless it's larger than "normal". This is what I use for a backup or transfer. It takes a few minutes to copy, but it's quite handy.

While all the above options are the best, simple and free ones and the sugestion theefool gave is the one I do use myself in your scenario.

I thought I would suggest this app I do use, not for the purpose of copying to transfer, however it will backup your favorites from its "backup" menu, not just from IE but from Firefox, Opera and Mozilla into a zip file.

But its main function and will help in cleaning up your bookmarks before transport to a different PC is to search all the favorites for dead links, IF your like me I have Hundreds of favorites bookmarked and dont always use them all, so this is nice tool for weeding out the dead ones and updating the ones that have changed urls!
