Toolbar meltdown ?

Firstly sorry If it's in the wrong place, I did use the search but could not find anything related

I have a laptop on vista and a desktop on xp. The laptop seems okay but recently since bing was added to msn the toolbar has gone on the xp p.c

I've tried uninstalling/installing & system restore but to no avail. I then went into reva uninstaller removed anytrace of google then tried to re-install google , goes as far as the download now and click ..then nothing. I don't like chrome so I try the usual google

I then tried a number of tool bar installations and again..nothing

Most of the toolbars have gone including the favourites bit also wherever i right click on the toolbar I still cannot find the selection that shows you to lock/unlock toolbar..it's all gone

all I have now is the address bar ?? then the home page

any suggestions would be most welcome

I tried that fix it for me through microsoft support and it does the same as the tool bar downloads..nothing

it seems as though anything to do with the toolbar is being blocked ?

I also tried clicking on the upper bar..nothing

it does seem as though something does not want me to alter the tool bar
