toshiba laptop charges battery but won't run off AC

Dear MajorGeeks,

Normally my googlefu is strong and I can find the solutions I need by myself but in this case I can't.

I have a Toshiba m35x-s149 and it will charge the battery when plugged in and run off the battery just fine, until it runs out. It will not run off of ac power alone.

I have replaced the AC adapter also bought a power jack to see if that might be an issue but if I am doing a complete disassembly to replace the power jack I also want to replace anything else that may be causing it while I have it apart.

If anyone else could help me out with some advice I would be eternally grateful.

If you remove the battery it will not boot, even though the power light comes on. If you then put the battery back in and plug it up it will charge the battery. After the battery is fully charged it will run while plugged up until the battery runs out.
