toshiba m#mk3021GAS

Just purchased a used Compaq EVO N610c notebook at a garage sale. I was shown that it powers on and also has a window requesting the hdd bay password key. I was alos shown a live systems test verifying the hdd, memory & motherboard to successfully pass. It only cost me $50 so I thought this to be an interesting project to work on.
I've researched & used the (3) default Toshiba passwords;
Toshiba, toshy99, 24Banc81. None worked. Toshiba has no firmware to install a fresh copy onto the hard drive to get it back to factory specs...I don't care about any data that may be on this hard drive & understand it will be lost in this process.

I've reset the BIOS, removed the cmos, unit battery & power for 24 hours & rebooted...without the cmos installed. Still get the above message.

I've also wiped the hdd with Darik's boot-n-nuke, loaded a bootable xp pro...goes through the whole process & then gets to the screen that shows all zero's for the hdd ID & states it in not accessable to perform this operation.

I'm in need of some advice & appreciate anyone's time who may have an answer. Thanks

 

For the $50 bucks you spent for the laptop, I would just end the grief and replace the drive. That should be the end of that eh?
