Toshiba recovery NOT !!

Hope someone can assist me in this,

Im fine when installing or recovering an os on a desktop but my not it seems on my Daughters Toshiba Equium A200 laptop.

I Tried to use recovery dvd provded. it goes through (loading winndows files)
then then green progress bar starts then the disc stops and nothing happens.

Any ideas people??:cry

 

Hmmm... fairly vague post. Are you trying a clean install and reformatting the hard drive? A repair install? Have you tried a hard drive diagnostic? A memory diagnostic?

 

Sorry about the vague post,

I inserted the recovery dvd switched off, on reboot pressed F12 to get boot options, selected boot from cd/dvd.
The disc spun up and started to load the windows files, then then normal windows vista green progress bar came up te after a pass or 2 went off and the disc stopped spinning. I left it for 30mins and nothing.
I have tried this 3 times with the same result.

I did the memory and hdd test with (diagCD23.exe) software
from packard bell. niether hdd or memory showed up any faults.

I have tried a clean install using the Windows Vista home premium retail dvd
that i bought when I bought my new desktop earlier this year.
That got all the way through until final configuration when it informed me upon reboot that :
(windows could not configure some of your hardware)
(this windows installation was not sucessfull)
(windows has not made any changes to you computer)
then rebooted back into the original windows install.

the reason for me needing to recover this laptop is that it will no longer download or install windows update and the cpu and memory are constantly
higher than they should be and I have trimmed down the processes
(except the toshiba ones) but this has made no difference.
Both antivirus and spyware scans have produced no results.

I'm at a loss other than spending £200 or more having it fixed by someone or toshiba.
