Toshiba Satellite L745d Speaks Cut Out After A Few Seconds, Hdmi Works Fine.

Hey all. I have a Toshiba Satellite L745D with a weird problem. Whenever I try to play a media file, either with a player (VLC, RealPlayer, etc..) or through a browser (YouTube) it will cut out after a few seconds. The video will continue with no issue, but the audio dies. This happens with all Media Players as well as Chrome or Firefox. If I play it through HDMI to a TV or monitor, it's fine. I've tried updating drivers using both Windows, and through the Manufacturers website. No dice. Windows troubleshooter also couldn't identify the problem. External speakers or earbuds work fine also. Just the speakers on the laptop. It's running Win 7 x64. Any ideas on this? Thanks.

 

Its looking like the laptops speakers are guilty.

If your unfamiliar with stripping down to test, then open youtube and search your model laptops tutorials.

First ruling out software as an issue, I would strip, and then test the speaker connections to the mobo with a multi-meter, then go from there!

 

Stripping it down is no issue, but if it was faulty connections/speakers I would probably expect it from only one speaker (two dying at the same time would be quite a coincidence), and I wouldn’t expect them to work at all (wouldn’t be an intermittent issue). What do you think?

 

If one speaker trips an overload, then both will go out.
