When the machine boots up which is vista, it has a password sign that comes up before it goes to windows password and u cant even use F2 or 10. Some one did this to this machine and there are no disks witht he machine to recover the whole thing. I haven't been able to do nothing. help

Is it a desktop or laptop? If a desktop: unplugging and then removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes might remove the BIOS password.

Give removing the battery a try. The CMOS battery is a small coin shaped battery about the size of a quarter. Unplug the desktop first and then remove the battery for a minute or two. The put back and startup and see if you can get into BIOS or recovery.

okay it fixed it so i can use the f keys now. It still has a passsword for getting on the desktop that we cannot get into. How would u change the password? Only one administrator on there.

Well if Windows is booting up (i assume) and it's asking for you login, and if the username happens to be Administrator I'd say there's probably not much you can do without having a technician take care of it, unless you are able to obtain password recovery software such as passware. In this case either reload or see a tech.

If the PC has a recovery system you might be able to reload the OS but all data will be lost. As far as cracking a Vista password I don't know anything about how to do that. Is it a name brand PC? There might be a built in recovery partition that would bring it back to factory defaults.
