I have no clue what to do, but I am getting really worried that my system is back to acting like it wants to crash.

When I start to boot it I get two error messages. One just says BIOS ROM checksum error
The other message says CMOS checksum message.

Any idea if there is a particular app I should run to automatically try to detect and correct whatever the problems are?

First thing i would do is replace the cmos battery in the motherboard, and
see what message you get next boot. ed

I agree could be the battery
The last one I bought was $2 at a local grocery store

When you change your battery, if you choose to do so, Keep in mind:

When you change a battery your CMOS?BIOS will reset to it's default settings.

So, if your unsure of you BIOS settings before you replace the battery check all your BIOS settings, write them down if you have too.

Don't forget to set (in BIOS) the correct Date & Time failure to do this can cause lot's of problems for some programs, particularly those that update them selfs like anti-virus utilities

Replace Battery, power up, enter BIOS, Check all settings, set Time & Date, save & exit
