I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and at work I use a ball mouse and at home a wireless mouse. But my touch pad is also active and creates problems for me because I am somewhat of a klutz. I have tried the F2 route and in the setup the touch pad is set to be disabled, but it isn't disabled because I can move the cursor with it. Any idea how I can disable it?

Do you have the touchpad drivers loaded on the system? The laptops I have use synaptic touchpad drivers which you can set to disable the touchpad whenever an external mouse is plugged in.

I think I do have those kind of drivers but I am in the dark when it comes to disabling them. Would I go to Device Manager and do it there? I need enlightenment!!!!

Most of the time at Control Panel->Mouse->[Device Settings or some similar tab]->Disable

Well, I tried that and it didn't work. I went to Device Manager and uninstalled the driver and was instructed to re-start the computer to finish the uninstall procedure. I did that and it re-installed the driver. Of course, I am supposed to re-start the computer again so the driver will work. In the meantime the touch pad is still active. Any other ideas?
