Tracking someones mobile, really?

So long story short, I run a forum much like this but in the far smaller world of heritage and I got a post for a link to a GSM mobile phone tracking system via the GPS-TRACK satellite network. Its not against the forum post rules, but i'm just wondering, is this advertising an illegal service which I should remove or is it a totally cool piece of telecoms technology which looks great?

 

It's hard to say. After all, Helio is promoting it as an integral piece of it's hardware package. I'd say it's a case by case legal thing, so I'd say no.

 

Thanks for that. Yup I read a bit on this and I am still massively confused. It appears to be legal as far as I can tell, but with massive qualifiers everywhere that suggest to me if it is legal, it is only just.

In this case I just dunno. The forum question is here <edit by cp> does not appear to conflict with any of the forum rules but it just does not sit right.

 

I have read where there are many concerns/issues with the system you mentioned. In short, anyone can track anyone with a little know how.
If a kid had this on their phone it would be no problem for a predator to lay in wait of opportunity.

 

Thanks for that. Nope, havnt used it at all, and will remove the link. But will leave the message as it seems that it alludes to a useful sorta legal technology.
