I know in a perfect world this would not be neccessary, but I am concerned about my son's exposure to online threats, bullies etc. Anyone know of good software for anonymous tracking - any recommendations/experiences welcome.

alright. Im gonna list a few programs that i use/have used to help keep me from looking at porn- yea, i avoid that stuff !

    guardware:
    http://guardware.co.uk/is_overview.php
    and
    http://guardware.co.uk/ts_overview.php

I use both of them- i dont know if you meant just bullies, or if you meant any harmful things like porn also. I can think of a few advantatges (I use the program)

    1) I can add sites that are safe, to a safe list, I can add bad sites to the unsafe list
    2) IT gives me a log, of all the sites i visited
    3) i can disable the "forgot password feature"
    4) I can also set the level of protection from "warning, maybe bad site" too "sorry, bad site"

also, xxxchurch.com i think- has a program that you install, it monitors all internet activity, and sends a weekly report to up to three different email address.

so their are a few out there.

also browse around the freeware on this site, their are probably a few of them out there.

Welcome to MajorGeeks! The history can be easily erased by using built-in features, or by using a cleaner like CCleaner, so it isn't that effective. Also, if the history 'life span' is set to zero, there's no history saved anyway. Take a look here:

I found those by quickly browsing the Major Geeks section for Covert Ops. Here's the link so you can continue the search yourself: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads6.html
Good luck! I hope this stuff helps a bit ;)

    Hi there,

I have found a newly UK launched software called Sentry Parental Controls and has worked a treat to filter my daughter's Internet use. I can block any site I want by keyword and domain and allow others - it's all customisable. I can install it in stealth mode so she doesn't even know it's installed!

The best thing, however, is that I can monitor everything remotely - meaning that I can control the computer from another computer (I do it from my office) and am emailed whenever a violation occurs.

You can download it direct from the site. I used their 15 day trial before I bought it. Hope this helps!

    Hi Kilkeeman
As mentioned before there are a few ways to install programs to help with your worries :)
Try to talk through the threats with your son that can come with being online too :) If he understands that surfing in certain areas or downloading different programs, often can have a serious affect on not only the health of the PC, but other issues - bullying/threats/fraud/ID theft; maybe this can help ?
