Not sure if this was supposed to go in networking or hardware so here goes ,

I regularly transfer about 600Gb of data from one external disc to another through my laptop , the specs of the external hard drives are as follows :

    Donor - USB2.0 Buffalo HD-LBU2 1TB

Target - USB 3.0 WD My book essential

I am running both through a PCMCIA express card USB 3.0 .

The problem i am having is that i wanted the new USB 3.0 speed as it was taking a long time to transfer and thought getting a USB 3.0 card to insert to my laptop would speed up things to the max of each device .I am getting a throughput of 13.4mb/second max at the moment which doesnt seem that fast to me , one of the mitigating factors which might affect the speed of the transfer is most of the files are quite small ie3-4mb each or smaller .What could i do to get the best transfer speed,

    thanks

    Peter:-D

This problems occurs because of hardware interface problems.
USB 2.0 are not as fast as its 3.0 counterpart.
    And is engineered differently.

Try visiting this site they got lots of insights about USB 3.0
