    Hi,
I have the Sky Max package and can download to either of my PC's at a constant 14000 mbps (from newsgroups for example). A 700mb film takes me no longer than 4-5 minutes to download but what kind of speed should I be expecting across my home network?

When I move the 700mb film from one PC to the other over my home network (browsing with explorer and copy & paste film from the one PC to the other) the transfer can take anywhere between 20-25 minutes.

Both PC's wireless connections state 'Excellent' and 54Mbps and my router is a Netgear DG834GT.

Is this normal or have I not done something right?

I am afraid you entered some wrong numbers there...

    14000 Mbs = 1750MBs , that's 1,75GB/s (notice the "b" for bits, and "B" for bytes)

and after doing some math, I concluded that the transfer rate between your two PC's is at about 500KB/s (~4Mb/s).

Well, i don't know too much about wireless networking, but I felt I had to post these numbers. Maybe someone with greater knowledge will reply..

    :-o

I'm jumpin' in with sinilar problem. I have two Pc's at home, desktop and laptop, they share internet via wireless router.

The transfer speed between the PC's via wireless is very slow, compared with how it should be (54 Mb/s)...
