Transfer

    i wanna transfer a file of around 6GB from my brothers PC to mine.. Problem is i live almost 200 Miles away so am looking for a way to do it... i could use something like Msn but i feel its un reliable and slowish... is there any other way around there ??? my bro runs XP i Run Vista

    You could upload it to a site like Adrive, where you can get up 50 Gig free storage.

    You could also put it on a memory stick and mail it, (rather old fashioned). :wave:wave

    I'm sure you'll get more ideas/websites to do this.

    Hi

    I would tend to go with Brandy and the online services for hosting files are good but you would have to check on the limitations as many do have limits on file size to be uploaded, so say for instance the free space they give is 50GB the actual max upload size may only be 1GB.

    Adrive max storage 50gb but max upload file size is only 2gb, so you would have to split up a 6gb single file, and can use the likes of Winrar for this.

    Skydrive is only 50mb max single file size.



    Windows versions are not an issues for transfering, but thing you may have to split the file up into say 1gb chunks using Winrar and upload to say ADrive, so long as your upload speed of your internet service is good.

    cheers for replies guys dont have a problem splitting files just wasnt sure of easiest way to transfer em so cheers for advice:wave

    Open a gmail account. Currently, there is over 7GB of storage.
    Send an email, with the 6GB file as an attachment to the gmail address.
    Give the username and pass to the other person so he can log in and download the email. Easy file storage and transfer.
