    Hello geeks.

Gotta problem that I think y'all could help with. I have two computers running Windows XP Home. They both are hooked up to a Gigafast router, which is connected to a cable modem. They both can use the internet just fine.

One of the computers, Desktop1, has a storage partition of 50 gigs set up as shared. Desktop2 is able to see this shared partition and read and write to this partition. I just got finished downloading a Linux DVD .iso file that is about 7 gigs onto Desktop2. But, my DVD burner is on Desktop1. When I try to transfer the .iso file to the shared drive, I get an error message saying there is not enough space on the drive. There is tons of space on that drive...it's 50 gigs with only about 10 being used. Any idea what the problem with that is?

Also, since I'm already posting a question...I've tried setting up a shared folder on Desktop2, but I keep getting an error message saying the "Server service is not started." I've run the networking wizard, trying to set up a shared folder, but nada. Any ideas what I need to do there?

    Thanks a bunch.

Go ahead and nix that second question in the OP. I figured out the problem with that. But, now that I have that shared forlder working on Desktop2, when I try to copy the .iso file from the Desktop2 shared folder onto the storage drive on Desktop1 (this is being done using Desktop1), I still get that error message. Even though there are 50 gigs of space on the drive, I still get a message saying there's not enough space for a 7 gig .iso image? Is this a networking problem, or something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I don't know what the underlying method windows file sharing uses to copy files, but I believe that ftp, for instance, has a limit of something around 2 gigs for shifting a file....

In case you don't get any better suggestions from the guys off this forum then I would suggest perhaps splitting the file and moving it in chunks... Later winzip versions can do this for you....
