I have an older Win2000 computer(PII) with many partitions and softwares setup. I have put together a newer P4 computer and want to find out how I can switch my hard drive from the older computer to the newer one, and get everything to work without going through a complete re-installation.

    Can someone help with this?

I think thats against Microsoft's EULA to transferr operating system to a different computer.
Not saying it isnt possible or easy to do. Maybe not kosher though.

IF it could be done, there would also be the hardware differences to consider.

I have heard but never tried a way to do this, I am sure isn't kosher with m$. This was a way to put xp on a netbook with no optical drives or bootable usb ports. Put the drive (with a adapter) into a desktop, format, install xp and let it all finish. Go into the device manager and "Uninstall" all devices not letting it reboot. Remove drive, replace in netbook. When xp boots it will 'find' and install all the hardware.

Again, I don't know if this works but have seen it posted a few times and you know it ABSOLUTELY MUST be true it it's on the internet.
