I am finally breaking down and getting a new PC. Several years ago I bought & installed a second hard drive to add memory because I have been scanning every photo I have ever taken.

Is there a special procedure/precaution I need to watch out for to remove this file-full hard drive from my old PC and plug it into a bay on my new PC?

I don't see anything really addressing this issue on any older threads

handle it carefully, as they are fragile. make sure your new pc is all setup and ready to go before you put it in. and make sure the new pc will take it...if it's older, it may be IDE and lots of new pc's are coming with SATA only

Hard drives die. I hope that you are burning the photos you scanned to CDs or DVDs. If that spare hd decides to die without warning, you will lose everything.

Tonite's the night - Thanks for the advice. I feel good, it's been drizzly all day & so static is minimized. And yes, I also got a DVD writer w/ the new PC as my hard backup plan.
