transferring music and pictures to a new PC

I'm not sure if this would be the right place to post this and if it's not, I'm sorry, but...

I'm getting a new computer, and I'd like to transfer all of my music and pictures from this one to the new one. I was thinking a flash drive, but I've heard they have problems with reading/writing the information. One of my friends also told me to just upload all of it, but I just found out not long ago that I can't make zip files because of the lack of space, and even if I could, I don't think my computer would function right and actually finish uploading them. So I've basically run out of options, if there's any programs or something that could do this, I'd be grateful if you let me know.

take out ur old computer's harddrive, attach it to ur new computer, like installing a new harddrive C: D: and just drag and drop, dunno if that works it should tho.
