Transparent leftover

It would be best to use an example as I do not know the terminology. For instance, when I am playing MS free cell and I left click the 'New Game' command a transparent 'New Game' prompt remains on the screen no matter if I change to a different program. I can only remove it by restarting the computer. It is non-functional and as far as I am concerned, not removable. This happens randomly with other programs too as my anti-virus program is doing now. It does not effect the functionality of the computer, just a royal pain. any help here?...doc ron
