That is cool, took a little more work than I thought! It is not perfect, but if you sit just right, it is a weird feeling!

Well, the way I did it was to set up my camera at the same place my head is at when sitting at my desk (use a tripod!) The tricky part is getting the camera lens parallel to the monitor screen so the monitor appears rectangular, and getting the zoom at a 'normal' setting. By normal, I mean it appears the same as when you look at the object, not magnified or zoomed out.

I took 2 pictures, one with my monitor on the desk, and without moving the camera, I took one with the monitor removed. In photchop, I cropped out everything but the original desktop picture, moved that over to the picture without a monitor, cropped the background layer to the size of the screen, then saved it and made the file the desktop.

With a bit of photoshop trickery you can also take shots at an angle, too. Though if you sat paralell to the screen it'd look weird.

One time one of my friends did that do someone else's monitor. It was one of those monitors with the super thin border, so when the owner came back he wondered why there were icons on his window. :D
