Is trend micro worth it? If that's your question, here's my opinion:

I think it used to be and now it's going the way of Norton and McAfee. On my desktop, with my new subscription, I accidentally upgraded to 2007 from 2006 version. I had to find my CD to reinstall the old version. The new one bogged my puter down.

When my subscription was up for my laptop, I started using Comodo and got rid of Trend Micro. I don't miss it.

I think that's probably the best thing to do. The suites tend to really slow things down. There are great free firewalls and antivirus' out there.

Along with Comodo firewall, I'm using AntiVir.

Both are working great for me so far. I still pay for Spysweeper, which I love.

Trend Micro, Inc. is probably best known for producing the former PC-cillin range of anti-virus products which were very highly rated just a few short years ago. Currently, I wouldn't use Trend Micro products if they were GIVING them away; much less pay anything at all for their inferior product line...

Trend Micro's AV used to be the one of the best antivirus products out there. But unfortunately; over time, all of their products became exceedingly bloated and started to taking far more resources as well as adding more and more ineffectual and bewildering components. I actually used to enjoy using their products very much however, I finally decided to abandon Trend Micro because of the issues with constant hangs and run away processes.

This year the Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2007 product came in dead last in PC World magazine's "Virus Stoppers" antivirus roundup test of eight products (see review: here). Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 did not fare much better either; finishing in fifth place out of eight security suites (see review: here)

    Good Luck!
