Tribes Patch problem 1.11

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem installing the patch tribes18to111.exe, when i click on it from the desktop, i get the following message.

Cant run 16 bit Windows program

and goes on to say in box it cannot file file tribes18to111.exe check to ensure the path and file name are correct.

I would like to play the 1.11 servers but for right now i'm stuck in the 1.8 servers.

Btw been coming to this site for about 2years now, and have got great downloads, yeah i know. what took me so long to sign up lol, well better late then never...

 

that error is usually the sign of a bad download. Dump your internet cache. Delete the file , download and try again.

 

thanks, but i've done all that, i was able to download patch 1.9, but i still get the same when i try patch 1.11.

It has nothing to do with a bad download, nor do you know what your talking about, the reasoan you're having problems with 16 bit applications in DOS is the following:

I encountered the same error and this fixed the problem...

For your information, a corrupted download can have various effects on the execution of a program including the error he was receiving, you may also see the error "...not a valid win32 application" as well as other CRC errors.

Yes, I have seen the corruption of the three files mentioned in the KB article. Recently that has been happening after an SP2 upgrade.

It has not been beyond reason that files have been corrupted on the servers and the first rule of thumb is DOWNLOAD IT AGAIN. If it still happens then it's something else. In this case I needed to determine if it was infact a bad file so it could be replaced on the server so no other people would experience the same problem. I received no reply so apparently this person has no issues especially since his last reply was over a month ago.

Additionally, he was able to patch to 1.9. Same installer..hmmm.. so that leads me to believe that if he can install one patch and not the other that the file was damaged. Now it is also possible that KBQ324767 could have been a solution too.. but we'll never know until he returns won't we.
