trick question

    or is there a straight answer
    how would you extend a LAN to connect to another LAN in another country?

    my guess would be to use a repeater or router,can any nice bod give me the answer

    Then it's not a "local" area connection ...it would have to be a domain config.

    use a bridge
    use a router
    use a repeater
    use a hub

    that question is part of coarse work im doing

    There is learning and understanding and just asking for the answer, to learn you also need to know the mechanics of the question and answer, not going to learn if we just give you the answer.

    The answer is one or should I say possibly two of the ones you listed, Tims link should work albiet it was a slow loader for me but the answer is in that webpage.

    If its a mis-print then highlight this to your tutor/teacher.

    Slow loader????? Halo, ya must have too many windows open .....or you need to flush your toil....er dns .....or crash your cache ....or try Linux!!!:eek: :eek:

    Simple answer is, you can't extend a LAN to another country unless you have money to spend and setup a VPN type connection and that can get complicated. Its not like adding another switch in a room or such, there are distance limitations and repeaters only extend a small distance. You would be hard pressed to extend it in you own nieghborhood.

    thank you for your civilised response,not like i got from the grumbbler,anyway it has come to my utmost attention that the question which was asked was misleading and the correct answer was router,if you read the question which i was given what would yours have been how would you extend a LAN to connect to another LAN in another country?
