Tried to re-install XP, now have 2 versions

I'd be grateful for some help with this.

I had XP Home installed on my PC. It was beginning to develop problems and I decided the time had come to re-instal XP, replacing the Home version with a new installation of XP Professional with SP2.

I backed up all my data and put the installation CD in the drive. I selected "instal Windows XP" and there was a message "Windows XP setup does not support upgrading from ... Home edition to Professional" however I was able to continue and selected "New installation (advanced)"

When the installation was finished I was surprised to find that I now have both XP Pro and XP Home edition with all my programmes and data still in place. Now when I boot up I'm given the choice of Home, Pro, or Pro setup.

I should perhaps mention that I have two hard drives; C: which is the system disk and is 15.6GB and E: which I use for backups.

Can someone please advise me how I can get rid of XP Home.

 

Do you have 2 hard drives or 1 hard drive partitioned for C and E?

 

They are 2 hard drives.

 

Your best bet is to reformat C.

Boot from the XP Pro CD and choose set up.

When your at the set up screen choose to Format the Partition C.

Use all the available space on C. Delete any partitions and install XP Pro on the entire C Drive.
