    Hi there,

I will try to give you as much info as I can but I am not sure of all the specs on my computer at the moment. I am running Windows 7 on a custom built PC that is about 2 years old. Gigabyte motherboard. ATI Radeon 5800 video card. Everything was running fine until this morning. I went to use my computer and had no internet. My husbands computer was online so I just rebooted ( usually works no problem ). When it came back online from being rebooted my graphics were all huge like there was no video card installed. I went into device manager and checked there to see make sure device was running properly and drivers were updated. When I tried to adjust the display settings they were grey out at 600 x 400 and did not give me an option to change it. I rebooted again thinking maybe something didn't load properly. I tried to adjust settings again and everything was still greyed out and I was unable to adjust anything. I tried to update drivers direct from the website. It installed the catalyst and everything ... that fun trying o hit the right buttons that you can't see because everything is off the edge of the screen! Everything installed and I still could not reset display options. I did some reading online and thought maybe I should try to roll back the driver. Now I cant see anything on my screen at all. I went to reboot and everything is black. I cannot see a loading screen, I cant get into safe mode, I can't get into BIOS to change boot option to boot from CD. I took the card out and tried an old video card with the same results. My husband took my old card and tried it in his computer and it works on his. He tried his card in my computer and still nothing.

I am not sure what to do at this point. Without being able to see anything there is nothing I can would love to give more system spec info but I cant remember it all.

    Thank you

Have you tried a different monitor?

If the cards are good, as shown they are by working in your husband's computer, then it has to be the slot or the motherboard.
Does the board have a graphics chip? If so, don't put a vid card in and see if you get a display from the inbuilt graphics.

As Eldon suggests, try a different monitor and as plodr suggests, try connecting your monitor without a graphics card installed. However, since you lost the native VGA resolution (600 x 400) and the card works in your husband's computer, I suspect it's the motherboard that needs to be replaced.

Thanks all for replying. My motherboard does not have onboard display so I did plug my monitor into my laptop and it works.

Looks like I will be shopping for a new motherboard soon!

Thank you again for your suggestions!
