Anyone have any info on triglycerides? All I can find is high levels or how to reduce your high levels.
Went to the doctor yesterday and the results of my blood work were good except my triglyceride level was 30 i his words the lowest he has ever seen. I spent the majority auguring with him over refusing other scripts or samples he was trying to push on me never got the chance to question more about the triglyceride thing. confused

You on a low fat diet? Otherwise, there are a few diseases that cause this. I am not a doctor though I understand your reluctance to take a script, side effects and all. If possible, get a second opinion if your provider allows it.

Thanks guys, wow in one site there Matacumbie there were numbers like 22 & 10. Don't believe mine is medical, all the other blood test came back good.
@ augiedoggie, I just kinda eat low fat, I loose 5 pounds and look anorexic. I think most doctors practice medicine via pharmaceutical companies and the freebies they hand out.
Thanks, think I'll go make a cake.

just wondering if you have ever had your thyroid levels checked ? (T3,T4 & TSH)
Its one of the possibilities that seems to be suggested in the links.
If you have difficulty putting on weight, you may have an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) which is potentially dangerous but can often be easily treated without surgery.

Good to see you have the strength of character to question your doctor, you pay his wages - you're the boss.

I had some sort of thyroid test when I was young (100 yrs. ago) it was ok. I think my whole metabolism is a little high, I conceal it well though LOL

May pay to get it checked again (new millenium and all ;))
Simple blood test, should only take them a couple of days to get the results back to your doctor. If you believe you have a high metabolic rate, hyperthyroidism may be the cause.
Some of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
Overheating - headaches, nausea, fainting, dizzyness, excessive sweating
    Bulging eyes
    Heart beat irregularities
    premature greying of the temples
Lack of muscle strength - mainly in the upper arms
    Excessive bowel movements
    Skin moisture control issues
Memory loss (which is why I cant think of the rest of them ;))

The most dangerous of these of course being the heart problems.
The doctor who diagnosed me last year, told me if I had left it I would have been dead in 6 months. Possible exaggeration on his part, but I wasn't about to test his theory.
6 months on Carbimazole, now off of it and levels have been stable for 3 months.

Simple test, well and truly worth it, if in doubt. :wave

Sugar and alcohol and meant to be the easy ways of increasing your triglyceride levels - doesnt sound too painful as far as treatments go :D

Hey Girl, come to Canada (Hey, we have "Free Medicare", and it's only a car drive away) (( And Yes, we speak U.S.A. here kinda, Eh!!))

Seriously, Darlene Both of us wish you & Dan well, we only know part of your Battle Kiddo, Your in our prayers, Love yea

Triglycerides/Cholesterol are closely associated with Vitamin E in the body, would possibly wonder if this was of concern to them.

    Cheers C&J

you speak USA huh, funny and true it's not the same as english. I have Medi also still preparing for that dam surgery, which is probably causing more stress then my usual. It has been going on for so long I'm getting embarrassed to mention it. The local respiratory dr. takes a month to get around to anything.
It should be close after so many set backs. Thank you and the mrs for the kind words it helps tremendously. If not for MG's I would be a basket case, as I said before, love you guys :)
