AVG 8.0 removed the infection and put the file in the vault. This was done by running AVG on the drive installed on a work PC as a 2nd drive.
When starting Windows XP Home, the XP splash and log on screen comes on okay, if I click on any user name, there is a brief view of the wall paper and then the owner's PC reboots. It fails the same way in safe mode.
I ran the Windows XP CD doing an R (the 2nd one) and reloaded Windows. It did not correct the issue. Before I reloaded Windows, I did an F8 and selected restore to last known good. Anybody got any ideas?
    Thanks
